By Nicky’s count, there are a dozen or so firms that import British food products of all kinds into the U.S. The chocolate wars began a year ago, when Hershey sued two of the biggest companies, Posh Nosh Importers and L.B.B. Imports (for Let’s Buy British). The rub, in Hershey’s view, was that Cadbury imports had increased in recent years to a noticeable degree, with British bars starting to turn up not just in mom-and-pop operations like Nicky’s but also upscale supermarket chains such as Fairway in New York and Bristol Farms in Southern California.
